Monica Rosen was born in Washington State in 1981. As a child, Monica was an avid dancer and violinist. At the age of fourteen she began a study of Byakko Ryu Jujutsu.
Shortly after she began her training in Jujutsu, Monica recognized the mental and emotional benefits of the training and increased her attendance to 30+ hours per week. Her hard work and dedication caught the eye of her teacher, and she was invited to attempt the completion of an intense instructor training program. Eight rigorous weeks later, Monica successfully finished the program, and began a two year internship as an assistant instructor at the ChiDoKai Dojo.
In 1997, Monica received her Shodan (black belt) in Byakko Ryu Jujutsu and was named Sempai (head instructor) at the ChiDoKai Dojo. Her attention to detail, monumental number of hours in training, and selfless dedication to the personal growth of others, were chief among the reasons for her appointment.
In 2001, Monica signed on with ABC Talent in search of training and experience in Acting/Modeling, and in 2002 she appeared in the Stephen King TV Movie "Rose Red." Also in 2002, Monica successfully completed her Byakko Ryu Jujutsu Teaching Certificate exam (a six month process) and was promoted to Sensei (teacher). Along the way, she was also awarded a full scholarship to college, acted as treasurer for Phi Theta Kappa, and graduated with honors from Centralia College with her Associate of Arts Degree in Business. Later that year, Monica relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona and established the ChiDoKai Dojo (of Arizona), which has twice been named as a Best of Arizona martial arts school (2005 and 2006).
In 2004, Monica became the co-creator of the P.A.T.H. After-School Program. The PATH Program is a comprehensive life skills program for children in the 3rd through 8th grades, which teaches self defense, conflict resolution, and study skills.
Just as passionate as her study of Jujutsu, has been her study of the rock group The Beatles. Monica has spent ten years researching the group, analyzing the individuals within the group, and formulating a thesis, which has become the outline for a book she is currently writing about the wives of the group members, and how these women supported and influenced the most revolutionary musical artists of our time. Monica is currently in the interview phase of her writing, and is actively pursuing contacts with the principles of her book.
In 2005, Monica formed the MnM Venture Group, LLC with her husband Michael. MnM Venture Group acts as the parent company for the Byakko Ryu Jujutsu Society, Hodersen Investments, Esoteric Ink, and the ChiDoKai Dojo.
